01SERVICE
Made-to-measure joinery turns awkward corners, alcoves and under-stair voids into storage, and it is one of the few renovation jobs that adds usable space without moving a wall. The work is measured, built off site and installed late in a renovation.

Air-conditioned interiors in Dubai are dry, and wardrobes on external walls can see temperature swings when the cooling is off. Moisture-resistant boards, properly sealed edges and good ventilation behind the carcass prevent the warping and swelling that cheaper joinery shows within a few summers. Ask what board is used for carcasses and what for doors — they are often different.
Joinery is designed early so electrics, lighting and any concealed doors are planned into the walls, but it is measured after plastering and flooring are complete. Measuring against unfinished walls is the most common cause of gaps and scribing problems. In a renovation, the joiner's survey is one of the last site visits before installation.
Integrated lighting inside wardrobes and shelving needs its power points agreed before walls are closed. That decision belongs to the electrical first fix, not to the joinery stage.
Carcass board, door finish, internal fittings and hardware all move the cost independently. A wardrobe with lacquered doors, internal drawers, lighting and soft-close hinges costs more than the same footprint in laminate with shelves and rails — so compare quotes line by line rather than by running metre alone.
