01SERVICE
In Dubai, a garden is used for more than half the year and has to survive the rest. Outdoor living works — shade, paving, decking, outdoor kitchens and planting — are designed around heat, sand, irrigation and drainage as much as appearance.

An outdoor space without shade is unusable for much of the day. Pergolas with louvred roofs, fixed timber or aluminium structures, and tensioned shade sails each suit different gardens and budgets. Wind loading, the position of the sun across the seasons and how the structure fixes to the villa or the ground decide which works.
Dark paving and some composites become too hot to walk on in summer. Light-coloured stone, porcelain rated for exterior use and well-chosen composite decking stay usable. Every hard surface also needs a fall to drain, because the occasional heavy rain in Dubai finds every level patio and every blocked channel.
Irrigation is designed alongside the hardscape, not after it. Sleeves for pipes under paving and a drip system for planting save lifting new paving later.
Pergolas above a certain height, structures near the boundary and anything visible from the street are often controlled by the master community. Most communities publish landscape guidelines; the contractor should work from them and submit drawings where approval is needed.

Composite or hardwood decking for a Dubai garden or pool surround. How each handles heat and sun, and what proper installation involves.
Interlock, natural stone or porcelain pavers for driveways, patios and paths. Choosing outdoor paving that stays cool and drains in Dubai.
Built-in grills, sinks, fridges and shade for outdoor cooking. What an outdoor kitchen needs to survive Dubai's sun and be pleasant to use.
